Abstract

The objective of this study was to analyze what the scientific literature describes about the care performed in hospital emergency to people who attempt suicide. An Integrative Literature Review was carried out with a qualitative approach. The electronic research took place in December 2021 in the following databases and electronic libraries: LILACS, BDENF, Indexpsi, SciELO, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus and Embase. Initially, 662 articles were found, and the final sample consisted of 11 articles. From the data extracted from the selected articles, four analytical categories were listed: Aspects that interfere with care; Attitudes of professionals; Lack of resources for mental health care; and Flow of care and intervention mechanisms of professionals. Among the main results, it was evidenced that care has still been based on a biomedical, technical and stigmatized model, permeated by the lack of human, physical and material resources.
