Best practices of nurse managers in clinical simulation laboratories

This study aimed to analyze the best practices in healthcare simulation mentioned by nurse managers of simulation laboratories. This was exploratory-descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The participants were ten nurse managers of laboratories from six states in Brazil. Data collection took place between February and October 2023. The analysis was based on Bardin's content analysis method, and Donabedian's theoretical framework of structure, process, and result. Three categories emerged: structure, process, and results of best practices. The methodology used allowed, through analysis of the participating managers’ statements, to assess the evaluations on the application of best practices in simulation laboratories. Thus, it was possible to analyze the best practices mentioned by nurse managers of clinical simulation laboratories based on international best practices standards. Furthermore, the weaknesses highlighted in the participants' statements suggest that there is still insufficient investment in resources to maintain high quality standards in their activities.
