The science, technology and society focus and the problem-based learning methodology: possibilities for promoting scientific education in Basic Education

Current society is constantly impacted by numerous scientific and technological activities that need to be problematized, understood and resolved. [...]. This article aimes to identify and analyze the interlocution between the STS focus and the PBL, based on their characteristics and common objectives. The study is of a qualitative nature, a selective literature review (YIN, 2016) was carried out on both, which were analyzed according to Bardin (2016). Thus, it was found that the dialogue exists, because they have points in common such as: interdisciplinarity, contextualization, decision making, active participation, group work and collaborative learning, educating through research, social problems, critical thinking, autonomy, nature of science, argumentation and thematic approach. It can be inferred that it can contribute to the promotion of scientific education from the perspective of scientific literacy of students of basic education.
